NFT Platform DRiP Based on Solana Raises $8 Million in Funding

DRiP, an NFT creation and launch platform built on the Solana blockchain, has successfully closed its seed funding round, securing $8 million with the participation of five venture capital firms, as reported by The Block.

According to the developers, DRiP allows NFT creators to share their work with fans in the form of digital collectibles. The platform supports multimedia content, including images, videos, and audio, providing creators with a broad range of options to engage their audiences.

DRiP also facilitates micropayments, enabling subscribers to send small tips to creators. The project team believes this model promotes fairer monetization, allowing creators to retain a larger portion of their revenue.

The seed round was led by venture firms Coinbase Ventures, NFX, and Progression Fund. Additional funding was provided by 6th Man Ventures and Placeholder Ventures.

The funds raised will enable the DRiP team to launch a mobile app for the platform, which will be available on both Android and iOS. In addition, the investments will support further development of tools for NFT creators, according to project representatives.

“Just as YouTube stars have shaped mass culture, DRiP creators will define the future of digital art, music, gaming, and storytelling,” said Mark Linao, co-founder and general partner of Progression Fund.

The DRiP team emphasized their goal to address the dominance of Web2 aggregators like YouTube and Instagram, which they describe as “enriching gatekeepers at the expense of creators.” Over the past two years, 550 DRiP creators have sent 170 million collectible items to more than 2 million unique addresses, the developers highlighted.
