MetaMask Integrates TRON, Expanding Its Multichain Strategy With TRX Staking and USDT Support

MetaMask continues its evolution from an Ethereum-focused wallet into a full-scale multichain platform. Following the integration of Bitcoin, Solana, and Base, the company has announced full native support for the TRON network, one of the world’s most widely used blockchains for stablecoin payments.

The move gives MetaMask users direct access to TRON’s ecosystem—without relying on third-party wallets or external bridges—while strengthening MetaMask’s position in the increasingly competitive Web3 wallet market.

What Changes for Users

With TRON now natively supported, assets from Justin Sun’s ecosystem can be managed directly within MetaMask.

Key features include:

TRC-20 Token Support
Users can store, send, and receive TRC-20 tokens, including USDT, which remains one of the most heavily used stablecoins globally—particularly on the TRON network.

Automatic TRON Address Creation
Once the app is updated, a TRON address is automatically added to the user’s existing MetaMask account. No manual setup or key imports are required.

Cross-Chain Swaps Inside MetaMask
Through MetaMask Swaps, users can exchange assets across TRON, Ethereum, BNB Chain, and other supported networks without leaving the wallet interface.

TRX Staking: The Core of the Integration

The most significant addition is native TRX staking within MetaMask, transforming the wallet from a passive storage tool into an active gateway to network participation.

By staking TRX, users receive:

  • staking rewards paid in TRX;
  • network resources such as Bandwidth and Energy;
  • the ability to execute transactions with little or no transaction fees;
  • voting rights for TRON Super Representatives (validators).

This approach mirrors TRON’s native economic design, allowing users to interact with the network as intended—without intermediaries or simplified wrappers.

Initial Limitations

At launch, TRX staking is available only through the MetaMask mobile app. However, the Bandwidth and Energy resources earned through staking can also be used in the desktop browser extension, ensuring continuity across platforms.

Why This Matters

Adding TRON is more than just another chain integration—it is a strategic expansion that reflects broader shifts in the Web3 ecosystem.

The integration:

  • reinforces MetaMask’s ambition to become a universal Web3 hub;
  • provides seamless access to one of the largest USDT-based payment ecosystems;
  • reduces friction between blockchain networks;
  • accelerates real-world adoption of true multichain workflows.

For TRON, the integration opens the door to MetaMask’s massive global user base. For MetaMask, it solidifies its role as a primary interface for interacting with an increasingly fragmented blockchain landscape.
