Hamster Kombat Sparks Outrage Over New Airdrop Rules

The Hamster Kombat team has announced new rules for the upcoming airdrop scheduled for September 26, sparking outrage among active players.

According to an official tweet, users will only receive 88.75% of their allocated HMSTR tokens on the first day, with the remaining tokens being locked for 10 months, until approximately July 2025. In addition to the unexpected vesting period, referral leaders and large in-game keyholders will receive a significant advantage in the token distribution, leaving ordinary players frustrated.

Out of 300 million players, only 129 million are eligible for the airdrop, while around 2.3 million users were excluded due to cheating. Regular players who have been logging in daily for six months are expected to receive between $10 and $60, based on the pre-market price of HMSTR on OKX ($0.008).

The hashtag #boycotthamsterkombat has trended on X (formerly Twitter), amassing over 22,000 tweets. Angry players have expressed their dissatisfaction, with one writing: “I’ve been playing for four months, collected over 200 keys, earned millions per hour, and now you’re telling me I get nothing. Hamster is a scam.”

Despite the backlash, the developers emphasized that the game doesn’t end with the airdrop snapshot. They are currently in an “Interlude Season,” which serves as a warm-up for Season 2. An additional 15 billion tokens will be reserved for the second season, while a total of 60 billion tokens out of 100 billion HMSTR tokens are expected to be distributed during the airdrop.

It’s also worth noting that the HMSTR meme token has already been confirmed for listing on major cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, OKX, and Bybit.
